Dr. Middlebrook is a Post-Doctoral Fellow working under the supervision of the Managing Director, Dr. Alison Johnson. Dr. Middlebrook has experience working with individuals across the life span, from adolescents and college-age young adults to older adults. She has provided mental health care in a variety of settings including inpatient substance abuse treatment/detox, a university counseling center, an urban outpatient clinic, a preschool, as well as outpatient treatment setting for DCP&P mandated clients. Dr. Middlebrook takes a person-centered humanistic approach to working with clients, integrating client-centered, existential-humanistic therapy with evidence-based treatments. As a person with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a chronic physical disability, Dr. Middlebrook utilizes her own experience to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and understanding of the depths of the human condition.
