Dr. Sykes takes a compassionate, mindful, collaborative approach to therapy. He personalizes treatment, tailoring it to each client’s unique needs and abilities. After receiving his PhD, he completed advanced training in treating anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD). He has also worked in intensive outpatient programs for substance use disorders. Dr. Sykes has published on the role of anxiety in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on IBS, and the effect of CBT on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from car crashes.
