What If Your Solution Is A Horse!
Alison W. Johnson, PsyD, Director of Summit Psychological Services (SPS), wrote an eye-opening article on horse-assisted therapy that recently appeared in the New Jersey Psychological Association's e-newsletter, The Mind/Body Connection.
"What If Your Solution Is A Horse! Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning" explores horse-assisted therapy: how it works and how it promotes healing. Dr. Johnson explains that no riding is necessary, and that equine therapy is particularly helpful for people "who feel 'stuck' in their talk therapy."
Passionate about horses, Dr. Johnson is a Certified Equine Psychotherapist through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). She is on the SPS Horse-Powered Growth and Learning team, which offers both equine-assisted psychotherapy and equine-assisted learning for people of all ages.
